In this talk, Kjell Anderson will examine the relationship between genocide, colonialism, and Indigenous peoples. He will draw from two historical cases - Canada and West Papua (Indonesia) - to critically assess the challenges involved in applying the Genocide Convention to the multidimensional destruction of Indigenous peoples.
